1) Ms. Le Thi Minh Tam, sister of Le Thi Cong Nhan, an attorney, chose to celebrate her wedding on this day at the hotel 14A, Pho Ly Nam De, Ha Noi. Mrs. Le Thi Cong Nhan’s guest list included members of the Democracy and Human Rights movement such as attorney Nguyen Van Dai, Bach Ngoc Duong, Nguyen Khac Toan, Luong Duy Phuong, Tran Khai ThanhThuy, Vu Thanh Phuong, Le Thi Kim Thu, Nguyen Van Anh and many more. Secrete police prevented these guests from attending the wedding. There were about 20 secret officers mingled with and acted as hotel employees to take pictures and video the wedding; they even jotted down guests’ license plate numbers. There were 2 special military vehicles filled with fully armed soldiers parked in front of the hotel. It was unique that from 12:00 noon to 12:45, secret police used special electronic equipments to interfere with mobile phone reception in the entire area to prevent planned phone interviews with Mrs. Nguyen Cong Nhan about the symposium focusing on Human Rights and Democracy in
2) At 9 AM on12-10-2006, communist secret Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Trung with Yen, a female secret police A42, arrived at the residence of Writer Hoang Tien to invite him up for a working session. Mr. Hoang Tien, after refused to leave his home, was roughed up by these secret officers and he was forcefully escorted out by the arms. Secret police kept him until 3 PM even without any cooperation from him.
3) Communist secret police suspected attorney Nguyen Van Dai of organizing the Committee for Human Rights in
Early December 9th, 2006 secrete police officer Dang Hong Duc from A42 came and forcefully took attorney Dai out of his house, detained him for a working session. He wasn’t released until 4:30 PM. He was asked to come on Sunday 12-10 for another working session but attorney Dai refused since, as a Christian, he will have to attend Church. At 8 AM Sunday morning, while attorney Dai was preparing for church, Dang Hong Duc, another officer and a gang member came and forcefully extracted attorney Dai out for another working session. Despite his vigorous protest, they succeeded after threatened him with violence. He wasn’t released until 3:00 PM. The purpose of this incident was to prevent attorney Dai from participating in a symposium over the internet on human rights and from attending attorney Nhan’s sister’s wedding.
4) On 10-09-2006, journalist Nguyen Khac Toan received an invitation to the security office of Trang Tien hamlet for a working session scheduled on 12-10-2006.
5) In Sai Gon, on December 10, secret police officers came to the home of Mr. Do Hai Nam, a Democracy advocate, to extract him out for a working session; arrested and detained him from 9 AM and didn’t release him until 5 PM same day. The purpose was to prevent him from participating in the human rights symposium over the internet.
6) On December 10, Messrs. Nguyen Phuong Anh, Luong Duy Phuong and Bach Ngoc Duong were stalked, harassed - without any arrest - by a group of male and female secrete police officers.
12-10-2006, an important day of the world. It’s the 58th anniversary of the International Declaration for Human Rights which was adopted by over 200 members of the United Nations that pledged to comply with and respect the essence of this Declaration.
All member nations have the responsibility to guarantee Human Rights within their sovereign boundary.
